1. Introduction

By submitting an application, entering a category, or engaging with The Golden Finish Awards Ltd (referred to as “The Awards”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These apply to all applicants, sponsors, judges, and any party associated with the Awards. The Awards are an independent recognition platform celebrating excellence in the Painting & Decorating industry across the UK.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Applicants must be actively operating within the Painting & Decorating trade and have the legal right to conduct business in the UK.
2.2 Employees, owners, or representatives of The Awards and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
2.3 Applicants must provide accurate, honest, and verifiable information about themselves, their business, and any projects submitted.
2.4 Submission of incomplete, false, or misleading information may result in disqualification.

3. Application Submission

3.1 All entries must be submitted by the published closing date for each awards cycle. Late entries will not be considered.
3.2 The Awards reserve the right to edit or format application content for clarity and presentation purposes.
3.3 Applicants consent to their application, images, or project submissions being used for marketing, promotional, and media purposes by The Awards.

4. Judging

4.1 All judging decisions are final and made by an appointed panel of independent judges with relevant industry experience.
4.2 Judges are required to declare any conflict of interest regarding applicants, businesses, or sponsors.
4.3 The Awards retain the right to disqualify any entry if a conflict of interest is identified, or if the judges reasonably determine the entry does not meet the required standards.
4.4 Judges’ feedback is confidential and may not be shared externally.

5. Sponsors

5.1 Sponsors of The Awards agree to act in a professional and respectful manner towards applicants, other sponsors, and The Awards team.
5.2 Sponsorship does not guarantee any influence over judging decisions, award outcomes, or applicant selection.
5.3 The Awards retain sole discretion over the number, category, and allocation of sponsorship packages to maintain fairness and exclusivity.
5.4 Sponsors consent to having their brand, logo, and promotional materials used for event promotion, including on the website, social media, and event collateral.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 All content submitted by applicants remains their property. However, by entering, applicants grant The Awards a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted materials for promotional, marketing, and media purposes.
6.2 The Awards’ branding, logos, images, and content are the intellectual property of The Golden Finish Awards Ltd and may not be reproduced without prior written consent.

7. Data Protection & Privacy

7.1 Applicants and sponsors consent to their personal and business information being collected, stored, and used by The Awards for the purpose of managing entries, sponsorships, marketing, and communications.
7.2 The Awards comply with GDPR and applicable data protection legislation. Data will not be shared with third parties outside the scope of the Awards without consent.

8. Liability

8.1 The Awards, its judges, and sponsors are not liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from participation in the Awards, including any technical errors, delays, or omissions.
8.2 The Awards are not responsible for any disputes between applicants and sponsors or between applicants and judges outside the official awards process.

9. Cancellation & Amendments

9.1 The Awards reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or amend the Awards, categories, or dates in exceptional circumstances.
9.2 Applicants and sponsors will be notified of any changes as soon as reasonably possible.

10. Code of Conduct

10.1 All participants, including applicants, sponsors, and judges, must act professionally and with respect for the spirit of the Awards.
10.2 Any behaviour deemed abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate may result in disqualification or removal from the event.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Agree

Restriction of Competition

By submitting an application or participating in any capacity in the Golden Finish Awards, the Applicant agrees that they shall not, either directly or indirectly, set up, manage, or be involved in the creation or operation of any awards event, ceremony, or business that competes with or is substantially similar to the Golden Finish Awards or Golden Finish Ltd. This restriction applies within the United Kingdom and remains in effect for a period of three (3) years from the date of their last involvement with the Golden Finish Awards.

For clarity, a “direct competitor” refers to any event or business that recognises or awards individuals or companies within the same or similar industries as those covered by the Golden Finish Awards.

Golden Finish Ltd reserves the right to seek legal or injunctive relief in the event of a breach or threatened breach of this clause.
